With over 1,500 calls received per day, the 115 of Paris provides the essential activity of lodging, listening, and guidance in the Parisian emergency shelter system. The data collected by 24-hour social operators during calls are a unique source of information and knowledge of the targeted populations. Thus, since 1999, with each call to the 115 a series of information on the demand and characteristics of the person involved in the call are recorded and entered into a computerized database.

Early each year, this data, once anonymous, is forwarded to the Observatory to undergo an initial statistical processing. It is then integrated into the databases that contain all the information since 1999.
